4 Reasons Why It Sucks Being A Student Athlete

1. You're Broke.

While everyone thinks you have it all sweet, you're broke. Unless your parents are helping you out then you're at school relying on whatever it is included in your scholarship. Of course you can't get a job during this time because with school, studying, practice and athletic competitions, there just isn't much time. Yes, some people will kill themselves and do it.

2. No Breaks Bruh

Of course this isn't for every sport but I recall being on campus with all athletes during winter breaks. Forget about basketball if you want a Spring Break. You'll find yourself weighing winning or losing and going to Cancun for SB. Good thing is you'll probably lose anyway but because you still won't be able to go.

3. No Internship

If you're like most athletes, you think you're the best or OR at least good enough to go pro. So what do you do? Train all year around, which is normally mandatory anyway already putting you in summer school. Give most college kids the opportunity to sacrifice the current for the future their probably not going to do it. Why? Because we are/were dumb/stubborn. I'll let you choose which one you were.

4. No Job Experience

Since you didn't/couldn't do number three you may find this cycle come to you often. You weren't able to get the job experience in your field during college. Now while you try and obtain some experience after graduating you cant, why, because you don't have any experience. I know it doesn't make any sense.

Those are my four reasons, I won't leave without talking about the good stuff. You will get free food, housing and tuition. You just won't care when you can't land a job. The real losers here are the walk-ons because they get the worst of both worlds, ya know, all the training, traveling, games, studying but they get the student loans too. That sucks.
